Ferrari are also introducing their most recent engine upgrade onto the automobiles to this weekend of Sebastian and Leclerc Vettel.
“The best method to prepare for Monza is to win races before not only Spa. However, since Monza is among the most power sensitive circuits as well as our package is aggressive in Spa, we may expect to become more competitive in Monza too, undoubtedly,” said team boss Mattia Binotto.
“You will find some low downforce packages, some are raced in Spa and others prepared for Monza, so there is a question mark. However, our car is surely competitive on the straights.”
It’s that prodigious functionality which Mercedes are concerned about heading onto F1 circuit.
Lewis Hamilton said following Sunday’s race at Spa:”It is all straights, so Ferrari… it is going to be a happy weekend to Ferrari, most likely in that regard.
“I meanthis weekend [in Spa]I think only in qualifying we are decreasing over a second a lap. There’s not too much Valtteri and me could perform in this case and there is not a great deal of corners to grab up that.
“Thus, it’ll be interesting. In the next few days we’ve got to create some radical improvements to our speed that was right . I really don’t know whether that’s possible – but if anybody can do itit’s our staff.”
But can 2018’s turnaround be repeated by Mercedes?
Having gone counting without a success at home and eight efforts, together with rivals Mercedes winning F1 five visits, Ferrari are more desperate to acquire the GP to get a 20th to give their ardent’Tifosi’ fans cause for mass celebration.
As Vettel, however to win for Ferrari at Monza in four different attempts, remarked:”I believe we have closer and closer from the previous decades, but we had been missing this final measure.”
The deficiency of a’step’ was no more obvious than at Monza this past year.
Locking out front , Vettel and polesitter Kimi Raikkonen were beaten by Hamilton to the race success. While the Mercedes driver later overtook Raikkonen after being chased by Hamilton, vettel spun.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff claims that they will not abruptly prove a game for Ferrari’s outright power, but does assume after Hamilton came close to overhauling Leclerc in Spa the more race distance might offer some opportunities.
“I really don’t think we can find 15kph at the next five days!” said Wolff. ” [With] no more DRS. But it is what is, no complaint.
“We have only got to prepare yourself the most effective possible for Monza and understand that it is not a track that’ll satisfy us and will prefer Ferrari, but we’ve got to get the best possible job.
“On the Sunday we’re looking much closer, even about the high-power circuits, therefore I still think we have to give it all we need to finally win the race Monza.”
Valtteri Bottas, who finished third a year ago, included:”Last year they were quick as well but we managed to make their life pretty difficult. I believe that’s where we got booed on the podium and what.
“We try to do the exact same again.”
