Minicamp will be kicked by the Jacksonville Jaguars without their best edge rusher.
Yannick Ngakoue released a statement Monday saying following his contract needs have not been fulfilled, he will hold out of minicamp.
“I won’t be attending minicamp because my contract has not yet been solved. I remain committed to the fans, Jacksonville and my teammates. My expectation is to be with Jacksonville for many years to come,” Ngakoue stated in a statement obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

The former third-rounder enters the final year of his rookie contract planned to create only a shade over $2 million. To get a pass-rusher of the caliber, he is woefully underpaid when compared with talent and his creation. Ngakoue’s 29.5 sacks in three seasons are tops among gamers from his draft class, a group that includes Joey Bosa, DeForest Buckner, and Chris Jones.
Ngakoue is one of the best pass rushers that are youthful in the NFL. The Jags snagging him at the third round composed for the whiff on Dante Fowler Jr., whom the group traded last season. Now the Jags have to find a way to cover Ngakoue more commensurate to his worth.
With contract talks Ngakoue will utilize his sole system of recourse: withholding his services. By skipping mandatory minicamp, Ngakoue is subject to penalties up to $88,650, per the CBA.
We will see whether his choice to hold out kicks negotiations or creates.
