Barcelona legend Xavi considers Manchester City forwards Raheem Sterling can turn into the”best in the world” once Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo prevent dominating.
Sterling incorporating six this term and has blossomed Pep Guardiola, scoring 25 goals last year.
The midfielder played in the Nou Camp alongside Messi and believes Sterling is on course to succeed the Argentinian.
Xavi told The Mirror:”Messi and Ronaldo have mastered the best-player-in-the-world awards for so many decades now, it is difficult to recall a time before them.
“Messi is your best ever for me personally – and though they’re both still playing at a really higher level – there’ll come the day long away if somebody else needs to step into these shoes.
“You consider young players who can be crowned the future finest on the planet and you still think of Neymar, Mbappe, Salah, and of course Sterling. I look at the moment – and Sterling is winning this race”
24, sterling, burst onto the scene as a superstar for Liverpool prior to a first few years at City, but because Guardiola took control, he’s started to fulfil his potential.
“He’s always been a great player, a dangerous player, but under Pep he has become one of the best on earth,” added Xavi.
“I know how Pep operates – he would have worked closely with him because his arrival – where he needs to improve and everything he needed to operate on.
“We’re seeing the outcomes of that – he is still young and may be the world’s best.”
