Delanie Walker unsure if he’ll open camp on PUP list

Delanie Walker sat Tennessee Titans minicamp out in July, and the tight end is unsure if he’ll start training camp.
“I will leave that up to the coaches,” Walker told Jenny Vrentas of SI.com.

Walker suffered a ankle injury in Week 1 of the 2018 effort that wiped out his entire season and required operation. The 34-year-old took it slow with his rehab. He returned to perform a couple of drills during OTAs but had been held out of minicamp last month.
“Just stepping on the field, running routes and performing exercises, that was the largest [hurdle],” he said of his OTAs work. “I had just been running for a couple of weeks, and being able to run routes against men, and beating them.”
The aim for a veteran such as Walker is to be ready Week 1, not the beginning of training camp. Any work he gets in during August and July is a bonus. Anticipate the Titans personnel to perform it safe with the TE.
Walker does not sound like he is fretting being ready for the season, even if that means beginning camp.
“We’ve got great coaches and coaching team,” he explained. “They’re probably not going to allow me to hit the ground running like I want to, but I look forward to getting into my groove.”
The Titans are currently entering a season, particularly for quarterback Marcus Mariota. Having a TE weapon like Walker on the area to begin the season healthy would be a massive boon for the Titans’ 2019 prospects.
