Phil Simmons was reappointed as West Indies head coach, three decades later he was controversially sacked from the place.
Even the 56-year-old prior opening batsman formerly held the role from 2015-16, together with all the Windies winning the ICC World T20 under Simmons before he was released due todifferences in culture and tactical approach.
Cricket West Indies (CWI) had drawn up a shortlist of applicants including Simmons, former batsman Desmond Haynes and Floyd Reifer, who oversaw West Indies disappointing World Cup campaign in England as interim coach.
Simmons, who led Ireland from 2007 before 2015 and most recently coached Afghanistan, will return to the role.

West Indies face Afghanistan in six limited-overs matches and a Test in November, with the show to be staged in India, where Windies will stay for a tour of the host nation in December.
