Max Verstappen says he is”very excited” to the GP despite a back-of-the-grid start, using the Dutchman prepared to flaunt his own overtaking abilities.
Following the disappointment of a first-lap DNF in Belgium, Verstappen heads to Monza using a new Spec 4 Honda engine also, just for example Red Bull team-mate Alex Albon and Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat last weekend, is put to launch from the back row of the grid because of it, combined with Pierre Gasly.

But the challenge is being embraced by Verstappen , especially as it’s a race he didn’t expect to have a chance of winning due to Ferrari and Mercedes’ power advantage at F1 track.
“I am really really excited,” he told Sky Sports. “Obviously we must start from the back and perform some overtaking, but generally once you look at it I think this trail will be a struggle for us due to the flat-rate rate Ferrari has, along with also Mercedes needless to say is more powerful on the straights than us.
“I think realistically, perhaps you may fight Mercedes if you start up there but it’s going to be challenging. So why don’t you start in the back, take a penalty and attempt to come through to fifth. Perhaps a bit of rain on Sunday will be nice.”
There is a danger of showers during the weekend and Verstappen, a celebrity F1 2019 performer who is third in the tournament, admitted that a wet race could make Red Bull”more aggressive”.
The 21-year-old doesn’t believe he will be in the search for its podium.
“You are able to overtake,” Verstappen informed reporters. “The issue is we aren’t that aggressive compared to Ferrari or Mercedes.
“You’ll find different monitors where I started at the back and finished on the podium because we’d really good pace and we can do a different strategy .
“I believe about here, I don’t expect to go for a podium but when we can get back to fifth, let us say in a standard race with no incidents, I think that’s a good result for us.”
Verstappen has started 16th or lower and has secured two podiums from those races, even with a best finish of second from 18th at last year’s United States GP.
