Ireland defence trainer Andy Farrell has called to use their shock defeat as inspiration for the rest of their World Cup campaign by Japan.
Regardless of the loss, Ireland will secure a place with wins from Russia October.
I think a drawback, you can use it in the right fashion, said Farrell.
They are not ideal but if you rely on them for your benefit they can be powerful.
Only five days after the outcome in Shizuoka, Ireland have a chance to get their campaign back on track in the indoor Misaki Stadium of Kobe.
Japan are in pole position in Pool A together using Ireland sitting one point before Samoa and Scotland, with two points out of two matches.
On Wednesday, Farrell – that is going to take over in Joe Schmidt following the championship as head trainer – faked the World Cup aspirations of Ireland werent over despite the disappointing loss.
You can look at the last three World Cups, South Africa losing to Japan (in 2015) and losing in the semi-final 20-18, said the former England assistant trainer.
In 2011, France appeared to be disarray during that competition and there is a disagreement on whether they should have won or not in the closing.
Back in 2007 I had been a part of the England team that has a rip-off South Africa. There was a bit of turmoil within that camp and they were able to get into the closing and (there was) a debatable attempt that was disallowed.
