Former Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes David Luiz will”learn from his mistakes in the pitch”, however, asserts the centre-back is”comfortable” at the Emirates Stadium, after his move from Chelsea.
32, the Brazilian global, was to blame for two of the aims of Liverpool throughout their defeat in August, conceding a penalty which Mohamed Salah scored.
In addition, he pulled from a challenge on Salah because he was really on a yellow card, which resulted in the Liverpool forward scoring a nice solo goal.
Mertesacker, who is Arsenal’s academy director, states:”I think he (David Luiz) will hear from his errors about the pitch, however he’s extremely comfortable being at Arsenal.
“That’s what I have been seeing. So we’re pleased to get him.
“He brings something different from the table at the moment. So I think he’s equipped to excel and learn his level of becoming an Arsenal player.”
Following the Gunners’ draw with Tottenham, Luiz admitted that for conceding two first-half objectives against their North London 29, the defenders of Arsenal had to accept responsibility.
The Chelsea defender has started in three of the Premier League matches this campaign of Unai Emery’s side.
Arsenal have conceded and play with six goals after two wins, one draw and one defeat in the opening four games which makes them fifth.
Mertesacker believes the formation of the team and the use of three Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe needs more clarity if they are supposed to give away fewer goals.
He added:”I believe we’ve got a lack of balance at the moment. Okay we have strikers where you really feel like but they as well should understand that we have to have a compactness.
“It is not only about us three (direct ) strikers providing an offensive threat. It’s about these three that are front too, like being a unit resulting in the frontline.
“Therefore I think we will need to be cautious of this. No matter how much energy you’ve got, you need to have a sense of compactness .
“So it is not only the back four that must be judged on how many objects we concede.”
