FanDuel MLB DFS Picks – August 14th

We needed a real fine night with last nights FanDuel MLB DFS Picks because we got plenty of manufacturing up and down the lineup.
Our pitcher, Domingo German, got things off to a wonderful start because he hurled seven innings of all two-run ball with seven strikeouts in a winning campaign within the Baltimore Orioles. The right-hander allowed a pair of home runs which accounted for all of the damage done in that one off of him.
Our three-man Cubs pile did a wonderful job. Nicholas Castellanos stayed white-hot, especially against left-handed pitching, using a solo home run from Jason Vargas and also singled and scored an additional run as well. Kris Bryant climbed and walked Javier Baez walked recorded the RBI, but made good on his exceptional stolen base splits against left-handed pitching with a steal off of Vargas, his 10th of the season. Production here.
We did quite well in our three-man Tigers stack. Jake Rogers kept the energy stroke moving with a home run in this , a shot to grow his walk. Travis Demeritte had another great game that included a set of singles, a set of runs scored and yet the other stolen base, his third at only his 12th big league sport. Although Brandon Dixon supplied a double but sadly struck out four times. However, we received outstanding, low-owned production from this trio.
I rostered just 2 one-offs last night, and among these delivered some big-time harm as Brian Dozier continued his attack on left handed pitching with a home run from southpaw Alex Wood. Fellow one-off Josh VanMeter failed to provide just a single on the nighttime to value, but its much better than nothing.
It was a wonderful night all night and Ill appear to make it two in a row tonights small slate.
P — Aaron Nola (PHI) — $10,100 vs. CHC
The very best arm on this slate is left-hander Clayton Kershaw as he takes on the Miami Marlins in Miami tonight, but I am going to rally to right-hander Aaron Nola because he takes on the Cubs in his residence park of Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia this evening. I am going GPP on this lineup tonight, although kershaw is the cash play. In any case, Nola was outstanding at home that season where hes submitted a 3.07 ERA, 3.57 FIP, 3.73 xFIP along with a 10.78 K/9 around more than 90 house innings this season in contrast to his 4.63 ERA, 4.99 FIP and 9.11 K/9 across almost half of the innings in comparison to his job at home. Clearly, we have something to work with here as Nola has been very good at home more frequently than not this season despite a shaky beginning. His start at home came against the White Sox when he hurled seven innings of all both one-run ball using 10 punchouts. That marks the third period in the previous six begins at home in which the 2018 NL Cy Young candidate has reached 10 strikeouts. The Cubs are a harmful offense to be certain as they rank seventh in wOBA versus right-handed pitching, but that fact together with his price could maintain Nola lower owned than you might think. Im prepared to roll the dice tonight.
C/1B — Jake Rogers (DET) — $3,000 vs. SEA
Once again I will be rolling up with a set of three-man stacks in this 1 tonight and then rostering a couple of one-offs to complement the stacks. My three-man Tigers stack kicks off with Rogers as I am picking him on both Miguel Cabrera and Brandon Dixon at comparable price points in the C/1B spot. To put it simply, Rogers is the hottest bat of the three and I want to keep on him while he is swinging that powerful stick hes placed on screen in three individual stops this season, a journey that began at Double-A. He is going to play almost everyday at this stage awarded his elite defense behind the platebut Rogers could become a great supply of electricity from behind the dish as hes homered four times in just 11 matches and 44 plate appearances at the MLB level that season. Rogers has smacked 18 home runs, if you mix all 3 degrees. He hit left-handed pitching to get a wonderful .844 OPS in Triple-A before his call up, and thats what he will watch tonight against southpaw Marco Gonzales. Rogers is now two for 6 with two home runs from left-handers at the big league level including last nights taken from southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. I feel some power could be generated tonight.
2B — Niko Goodrum (DET) — $3,200 vs. SEA
Goodrum was not part of the Tigers stack last night due to cost and the cosmetics of the lineup, nevertheless hes likely be in this 1 tonight because he will form a wrap-around stack with Rogers plus a Tigers outfielder in this 1 tonight. I needed him last nights heap as his bat is effective against left handed pitching, although he can sport some unique splits. The energy is increased against righties since Goodrum possesses a .173 ISO against righties compared to some .159 mark against lefties. However, from there on out, the switch-hitting Goodrums splits prefer facing left-handed pitching. Goodrum is hitting .364 with a .941 OPS, .393 wOBA and also a 147 wRC+ on the season against left handed pitching. The numbers are especially better on the road against lefties, however Im not too concerned because he pitched in the nights game and scored a pair of runs against the southpaw Kikuchi. There is also the fact that Goodrum has been quite good since the return from the All-Star fracture as he owns a .213 ISO, .853 OPS, .355 wOBA and 122 wRC+ since July 12th. We have some stolen foundation upside as Goodrum has swiped 12 foundations on the year, and three of which have come against a lefty.
3B — Sean Rodriguez (PHI) — $2,200 vs. CHC
My stacks arent exactly on the inexpensive side, particularly my main pile, therefore I needed to get a couple value one-offs to make my lineup fit under the salary cap on this slate tonight. I think Ive found some value from Sean Rodriguezs bat because he chooses on left-hander Cole Hamels and the Chicago Cubs. By performing harm against left-wing pitching rodriguez has made his big league money. In his profession against southpaws, Rodriguez possesses a .168 ISO, .763 OPS, .336 wOBA plus also a 113 wRC+. Those amounts are especially better than his .146 ISO, .625 OPS, .275 wOBA and 71 wRC+ from right-wing pitching. The splits are broad again this season because he has smacked every one of his homers against left-handed pitching in only 43 at-bats contrary to them. He is hitting .279 with a .233 ISO, .879 OPS, .370 wOBA along with also a 129 wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season in that small 43 at-bat sample dimension. He has also produced a .350 ISO 1.041 OPS, .425 wOBA and 164 wRC+ at home against lefties this year at a 20 at-bats sample dimensions as two of the homers this season have come from this span. Needless to say, we have something to work with here in terms of expressing value.
SS — Charlie Culberson (ATL) — $2,100 vs. NYM
The last one-off of the lineup tonight is the Braves Charlie Culberson that comes in a near-minimum price against left-hander Steven Matz and also the New York Mets. Its been a tale of two seasons to get Matz awarded his home/away splits on the season. In the home, he possesses a eye-popping 2.14 ERA, but hes been brutalized on the road to get a 6.79 ERA while his 6.43 FIP and also 5.23 xFIP together with some 2.59 HR/9 on the road do not just paint a much wider picture. This might be a very good thing for Culberson along with the Braves as a Braves pile could be used tonight too. That said, I like Culberson as a value one-off as well. Hes enjoying yet another productive season in part-time obligation according to his own .345 wOBA and 110 wRC+ on the season. However, Culberson is doing some serious harm against left-handed pitching since he owns a gigantic .405 average, .262 ISO, 1.085 OPS, .449 wOBA and a 178 wRC+ over the season vs southpaw pitching. The sample is small in just 42 at-bats, but the production is actual. None of the strikes went for extra-bases, but Culberson is 2 for 4 with a stolen base in his brief history against Matz. I believe there is a whole lot of upside in both of these one-off value .
OF — Travis Demeritte (DET) — $2,900 vs. SEA
Completing our three-man Tigers stack is Demeritte who continues to impress since coming over in the Braves at the trade deadline and immediately getting his promotion into the big leagues for the first time in his profession. His cross-category possible was on screen in the nights match as he recorded a group of singles, scored two runs and utilized his wheels to sneak his third base of the year in just his 12th MLB match. For what its worth, he also added four beats in Triple-A from the Braves organization before the transaction. It was nice to watch him have some victory against a left-hander in last nights game as he had not done a small sample prior to last nights contest, at least at the big leagues. In Triple-A, Demeritte punished southpaws to get a .954 OPS this year while eight of the 20 home runs Triple-A came from a left-hander in about half as many at-bats since he had against righties. Demeritte has shown wonderful consistency because entrance to Detroit as he is recorded a minumum of one hit in eight of the 12 games, for example in each of his final seven. The 24-year-old is place to receive a long look at the Tigers outfield for the rest of the season and I will search for him to keep to make the most of the opportunity again tonight.
OF — Mike Trout (LAA) — $4,800 vs. PIT
Even the Angels and Pirates keep their collection from Anaheim tonight along with the Angels have a real fine house matchup from right-hander Chris Archer whos mostly struggled to the road this year. Archer enters this man wearing a 6.66 ERA on the road this season while he has let a whopping 2.05 HR/9 on the road too. Even his 4.94 FIP and 4.32 xFIP suggest there is some positive regression to be needed for Archer on the road this season, but to be quite honest I shall just roster three Angels who hit right-handed pitching for plenty of home run power and see where it carries me. Trout is currently competing for a home run crown this season and this matchup is favored by his splits. Even the righty-swinging Trout has exceptional quantities versus righties than lefties in the form of a .389 ISO, 1.136 OPS, .452 wOBA plus a 191 wRC+ vs righties on this season. His amounts versus righties at home are largely similar. We receive several stolen base uspide and he has nine steals. Archer is vulnerable to the stolen base plus that also I enjoy that Trout includes three steals against him despite having a .227 batting average at 22 career at-bats him against him. Given Archers road work and home run woes this season, Trout is a high-ceiling perform tonight.
OF — Shohei Ohtani (LAA) — $3,500 vs. PIT
Next guy up in our three-man Angels stack is Ohtani who proceeds to strike against pitching for plenty of power, particularly . Add in his speed on the basepaths and we have plenty of upside down in this matchup tonight. Entering perform tonight, Ohtani possesses a .245 ISO, .902 OPS, .371 wOBA along with 136 wRC+ on the season vs right-handed pitching. Additionally, hes submitted a .320 ISO, 1.076 OPS, .431 wOBA and 176 wRC+ to the time against lefties in the home. Ohtani has used his pace to steal 10 bases on this year, and nine of which have come from right-handed pitching. Its been a pretty quiet second half for its superstar he has caught fire over the previous four games and also enjoyed a huge night in last nights game as well. Over his past four games, he has gone 8 for 20 (.400) with two doubles, a triple, four runs scored, six RBI and a stolen base to boot up. He went 2 for 5 with two runs, a triple, a double, two RBI and a stolen base. Ohtani is one of these bata you wish to ride when hot and thats just what I will do in a home matchup where he does his best work.
UTIL — Justin Upton (LAA) — $3,100 vs. PIT
Upton has seen action in just 40 games this season thanks to an accident that cost him a huge chunk of the first half of this season, but the man is once more demonstrating some reverse-splits and mashing pitching in 2019. Entering this 1 tonight, Upton sports that the .238 ISO, .871 OPS, .360 wOBA and 129 wRC+ on the season against right-handed pitching. The figures are much better on the road against righties, but given the small sample Im not worried about this to be completely fair. This marks the second consecutive season hes posted some gaudy reverse-splits because he assembled a .232 ISO, .875 OPS, .373 wOBA and 141 wRC+ from righties last season in comparison to a .125 ISO, .593 OPS, .265 wOBA along with 67 wRC+ from lefties this year. He hasnt conducted much this season with only one steal so far, but hes listed 22 steals over the past two seasons and with Archer allowing his fair share of steals, perhaps the stolen base upside gets a couple of ticks in the ideal direction in this . I am more intrigued by the energy upside to make positive and this three-man Angels heap brings loads of this from a pitcher allowing a ton of home runs this year.
