Rotherham finished Coventrys unbeaten start to the year in emphatic style with a 4-0 victory in the New York Stadium.
As the Millers conducted riot matt Crooks struck two for Rotherham both sides of 2 Michael Smith penalties.
Coventry skipper Kyle McFadzean had a day to await its visitors, playing a part in giving both spot-kicks away in addition to being shipped off.
The hosts were before 13 minutes as Crooks header was too powerful for Marko Marosi to keep out.
The lead was dropped in the 19th minute when Michael Smith fired home from the spot after he had been tripped by Marosi after a short pass from McFadzean.
Jake Hastie might have made a poor beginning actually worse but that he had been denied by Marosi along with the rebound from Crooks was kept out.
When Smith netted his second penalty of the match rotherham did add a third goal in the 58th minute, however.
McFadzean gave it away after bringing down Crooks clumsily and referee Darren Handley duly sent off him.
The following contributed to Rotherham goal in the 75th minute, with all Crooks after Michael Rose switched off using the ball in his feet, poking beyond Marosi.
