The predictions remain thick and quick throughout the quarter-finals and on possible semi-finals, landing Ireland taking on New Zealand and England assembly arch-rivals Wales.
Carragher throws his support behind Wales due to one man’s influence in particular.
“It’s Gatland you visit. He’s a top trainer, the Lions coach,” notes Carragher, who then ponders on a potential New Zealand versus Wales final.
“New Zealand-Wales [in the final], I will go with this! I think that New Zealand would do them.
“To be fair, the Lions didn’t shed, did they? On New Zealand. [Gatland] acquired a draw over there.”
With Greenwood being impressed with Neville’s rugby nous and both Carragher’s, the tables flipped on a more familiar subject – soccer managers. The issue is, which you could Gatland be like?
“He’s stubborn isn’t he? Together with Warren Ball… is he Large Sam?!” Carragher pondered with a chuckle and a smile.
“You know what, I would say Jose Mourinho. He gets results.”
