Mason Bennett and tom Lawrence have been fined six weeks wages by Derby and awarded 80 hour community service orders.
The sanctions are bringing the team and such as breaking a bar curfew – following the group were involved in that which Derby explained as analcohol-related incident week.
Bennett, 25, and forward midfielder Lawrence, 23, were charged with drink-driving after an accident in the Allestree region of Derby.
A Derby announcement :Derby County Football Club has completed the disciplinary hearing regarding Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett in regard to their involvement in the events of last Tuesday night, which resulted in both of these being detained and scheduled to appear at court on October 15th.
Regardless of the results of that process, the club will not tolerate any of its staff or players acting in a fashion which puts themselves, their coworkers, and members of the public in danger of injury or worse, or that attracts the team into disrepute.
Both the Lawrence and Bennett are consequently being trashed the equivalent of six months wages – the maximum statutory limitation – and will serve an additional 80 hours of community and rehabilitation, which will include a drink aware course.
The club will be making no additional comment regards this matter.
Bennett said:At the night of Tuesday 24th September, I made tremendous mistakes after consuming alcohol.
Everything I did was incorrect.
Being a footballer, and also someone who youthful lovers look up to, I know the example I set is essential. I am ashamed.
At 23 Im old , and that I was brought up, to understand much better.
I understand that such activities have serious consequences. I take responsibility and take the punishment which the club has already issued.
I must, and will, learn from these events and will try to become a much better person.
Theres no excuse for what Ive done. I am sorry to my family, my friends, the clubDerby fans and to the broader football community, so I let you down
