Marc Marquez has won his MotoGP world title – and his fourth in a row – on Sunday after success in Thailand.
The 26-year-old, who was taken to hospital following a crash in practice sealed his latest crown four races to spare.
The Spaniard had to acquire at least two points more than closest rival Andrea Dovizioso – and did so as the Italian fourth.
Fabio Quartararo was next.
Marquez was handed by frenchman Quartararo about the last corner of the lap – but Marquez was able to retake the lead for his 53rd MotoGP race triumph.
I had been planning the weekend to get the race and not think about the championship, said Marquez.
My goal was to discover the very perfect method to win the race, and thats what I did.
Amazing calendar year. The team did an wonderful job. Now its time to enjoy and observe the name.
The race will take place in Japan on 20 October.
