Raheem Sterling can become best player in world, says Xavi

Barcelona legend Xavi believes Manchester City forwards Raheem Sterling can grow to be the”greatest in the world” after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo stop dominating.
Sterling has blossomed under Xavi Barcelona director Pep Guardiola 25 goals last season and adding already this term to six.
The Spanish midfielder feels Sterling is to succeed the Argentinian and played Messi at the Nou Camp.
Xavi told The Mirror:”Messi and Ronaldo have mastered the best-player-in-the-world awards for so many decades now, it is hard to recall a time before them.
“Messi is the best ever for me personally – and though they’re both still playing at a really significant level – there will come the day long away if someone else needs to step into these shoes.
“You consider young players that can be crowned the future finest on earth and you still think of Neymar, Mbappe, Salah, and of course Sterling. I look at the minute – and now Sterling is winning race.”
Sterling, 24, burst onto the scene because a superstar for Liverpool before a quiet few years in City, but since Guardiola took charge, he has started to match his potential.
“He has always been a good player, a dangerous player, but under Pep he’s come to be among the best in the world,” additional Xavi.
“I know how Pep works – he’d have worked closely with him since his birth – where he needs to improve and what he had to operate on.
“We are now seeing the results of this – he’s still young and may function as world’s greatest.”
