Ireland defence trainer Andy Farrell has called to use their shock defeat by Japan.
Despite the loss, Ireland will secure a spot with bonus-point wins from Russia on Samoa and Thursday on 12 October.
I think a setback, you can use it in the perfect fashion, said Farrell.
They are not perfect but if you rely on them to your advantage they can be powerful.
Just five days after the outcome in Shizuoka, Ireland have an opportunity to get their campaign back on track at the indoor Misaki Stadium of Kobe.
Japan are in pole position in Pool A with nine points out of two games, together with second-placed Ireland sitting one point ahead of Samoa and Scotland.
On Wednesday, Farrell – that is going to take over as head coach – faked Irelands World Cup aspirations werent over despite the disappointing loss.
You can examine the previous three World Cups, South Africa losing to Japan (in 2015) and losing from the semi-final 20-18, said the former England assistant trainer.

This week fly-half Johnny Sexton, who will captain Ireland on Thursday, explained the brief turnaround is at Irelands favour as it gives them a chance to reassume control of their campaign quickly.
Since arriving on Sunday from Kobe, coaches and players have been keen to highlight their fair assessment of what went wrong.
Following a couple of days of comprehending the reasons why (we lost), were in good spirits, said Farrell.
We are back on track and ready to prove a point

Given the nature of the last outcome, there is little Ireland can perform against Russia which can restore confidence levels to the degree it was before the Japan game Aki is convinced their campaign will move on Thursday among fans.
What I have noticed about this team (is that) we develop together as a team, he explained.
As a team we constantly concentrate on ourselves.
If the stress is on and everybody is talking us down, everybody steps up
